Some get high on blood and gore. Others are less particular, they can do with a flower or pot or so.
What can I say? Dubai is full of freaks, and you're there to keep record of all doings natural or slightly deranged. A fine moment, Khuram. Which resulted in a great, albeit itsy-bitsy disturbing shot.
Dubai is full of freaks indeed; and I'm not ashamed to admit that I'm probably the biggest freak of em all. Top prize to you for noticing the disturbing aspect of this image. He could very well be one of those classic, melodramatic type of serial killers from old movies manifest.
Funny you would say that. When I looked at this picture, I have seen some kind of emotionally imbalanced serial killer before my eyes. Not that I mean to heap such a load on that guy, he probably loves his family and his Mummy too, but still...
I'm not a vegetarian, I like meat, but I don't necessarily feel good about the creatures who's lives are shortened in order to accommodate my needs and cravings. It is a world where, in order to live, we have to take lives, but I believe this has to be done with respect and responsibility.
And you the biggest freak of them all? Now, if you can prove that, I'll be really impressed. Impressed beyond any human imagination.
I like meat too. Chickens especially. I could practically live on chicken meat for the rest of my life and still come back for seconds! Though I believe that I'm a bit of a hypocrite in that matter, as I won't - cannot eat the bird if it was slaughtered before my eyes. I just can't do it.
Thank goodness the U.A.E. government put a stop to the practice of placing live chickens in cages in butcher shops. Now I can have my chicken and not feel guilty about it.
I understand you perfectly well. When it comes to meat "harvesting", hypocrite is my family name. I would easily turn vegetarian if I would have to kill them poor souls myself. Or watching them being killed.
I killed animals in the past, snakes, rats, armadillos etc.; a long time ago I even made myself a name as a killer among the locals in the Beni region of Bolivia. It's a long and silly story, so I won't delve into it here. Anyway, I never felt good about taking a live. And so it should be.
But you will delve into it via note, right? If you made a name for yourself in 'the' country that follows the Law of the Rights of Mother Earth, hell yeah I'd like to know more about it. Shoot me a note when you have the time or else you can look forward to being pestered on a regular basis.
I'll write it down and send it to you via notes sometime (hopefully) soon. But don't expect too much; as I indicated, it is a rather silly, annoying and in some way embarassing story. It's all very Latin American at its core.
Do you know the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid"? Casting Robert Redford and Paul Newman. The Last third of the movie plays in Bolivia, because these two rather hapless train robbers did run into some serious difficulties in the United States. I think the movie depicts the feel of a place like Bolivia rather well. The Machismo, paired with cowardice, but trigger-happy when it seems safe.
