the first thing that hits me about this image is heat, the fact that the buildings in the background are shimmering slightly alludes to the fact that its is very hot, the man in the foreground, his head covered as well as his neck shows this is a very hot day. the fact the sand breaks up what would otherwise be another vista of builidings/building sites/skyline is very interesting. the story as i read it. sand before the skyscraper. its is very colourful and not even using a zoom lens, which adds to the perspective. the way the sand dominates this photo is also interesting , maybe showing that nature, in the end, is the winner.
the placement of the worker lends scale to the image, although i cant help but wonder that the image may have looked better if they were standing in between the buildings, but thats just me..
Hello there, I just wanted to say that you are quite the photographer and I used this picture as inspiration for 2 poems and a story I'm writing. All of which are for an event for this group I'm in, Literary Publications.
Oh, they have locally grown sand here... but the government is saving it for the near future when they've used up all of Florida's (and maybe the world's) sand and then they'll sell the local sand back for 4 times the value.
